Garage doors explained

Certain members of the team here at ABi Garage Doors Ltd have been working with garage doors for over three decades, so it’s extremely easy for them to decipher between which one is which. But for the regular joe like most of you reading this, it won’t be as simple as that, so we thought we would put together a quick guide consisting of our main garage door types – their features and how you could benefit from them.

Up and Over

For most homeowners, the up and over garage door is the ideal solution for their property, and it’s extremely easy to see why. Particularly here at ABi where we supply Hormann garage doors (Europe’s best), up and over doors are extremely reliable due to their quality and durability.

The up and over garage door is pretty self-explanatory – the door lifts up and over the opening and then slides back on to the ceiling area of the garage.

They are also in stock in a wide range of colours, finishes and materials as well as being available to you in a contemporary and traditional design.

How could you benefit?

  • Fantastic security
  • Improved aesthetics
  • Reliable
  • Durable
  • Easy to maintain
  • Safety

Roller

A roller garage door is a fantastic option for your home if you’re wanting to save space inside your garage. This is thanks to the fact that the door is made up from tightly packed aluminium laths, which roll up in to a drum located above the door’s opening – meaning it requires next to no storage space.

Our roller garage doors come in over 200 colours, with the most popular choices being black, green, red, white and grey. It is also available in a wood-grain finish if you’re wanting to have a more elegant feel with your garage.

How would you benefit?

  • Space saving
  • Great insulation
  • High security levels
  • Available in over 200 colours
  • Come fitted with electric operator as standard
  • UV resistance coating
  • Weatherproof
  • Durable

Sectional

Arguably the most popular type of garage door in the UK, the sectional garage door is an elegant yet reliable option to front and protect your home. The sectional garage door has very little pivot points and if automated has none, meaning security is extremely enhanced leading to a safer home.

It is made up from separate panels which run along vertical and then horizontal tracks back in to the garage. But unlike the up and over garage door, no driveway space is lost thanks to the separate sections bending along the tracks.

Available with manual and electric operation, the sectional garage door is also in stock in an array of colours as well as having a 10-year guarantee on all of our parts.

How would you benefit?

  • Space saving
  • Elegant
  • Reliable
  • Great security
  • No kickout
  • Manual and electric operation
  • Available in many colours
  • 10-year guarantee
  • Three levels of insulation available
